Huh? Zoe the butterfly??? Well, that's just one of the funny things you see when you head out to a soccer practice for kids under four years of age.
Sometime during the evening a little girl ran up to me and said "look at my butterfly" when I asked "what's the butterfly's name?" she thought for a moment and said with a twinkle in her eye "Zoe" and with that she was off with a spring in her step, back to the game. Kids, are, funny.
And that was the theme of the evening. Kids having fun on a soccer field. Evan was attending his second soccer practice (I missed his first as I was out on a mountain bike ride) and he was eager to hang out with his soccer friends. Soccer at this age is really all about chasing a ball and kicking it generally in any direction so you can chase it some more. What more could a kid ask for.
Of course before you run around you have to get some strategy in place like "be nice" and "have fun" kids take strategy pretty serious. And even though Keegan is still too young to join soccer he snuck in through the back door and hung out in the back row to catch any pearls of wisdom.
The kids really like "The coach of the year", he has a good way with the kids and they are already looking up to him as the coach.
I like this image, nice form and he gave it a mighty boot for his age, as you can see the ball is just lifting off.
Of course while Evan was chasing a ball down, Keegan had some spare time on his hands and some dirt that needed his attention.

At the end of the game, the crew was pulled back together to listen intently to some words of encouragement and then it was off to the video feed van for a review of the team play - erhmmmm, I mean it was snack time and the kids dived in.
A nice fun evening for everyone involved. Next week I think they are working on their offside strategy and three-man pushes. ;-)

Thanks for saying that. Your site also very cool - and yes you are on the other side. ;-)
Hopefully we will get to do a lunar landing over there in the next few years.
Love Love Love the pictures! Tell Evan that I can't wait to see him in action. I
